This work, published as an art album, is dedicated to the anniversary of the victory of the Soviet and Mongolian troops at the Khalkhin-Gol River over militarist Japan in 1939.
It tells not only about the glorious chapters of the combat brotherhood of the Soviet and Mongolian peoples in the fight against Japanese aggressors.
It also presents a broad picture of the collaboration between contemporary Russian and Mongolian artists, sculptors, scholars, and art historians, who held a plein air workshop in the relentless Mongolian steppe—where once soldiers of the Red Army and the Mongolian People’s Republic fought side by side—and gathered interesting scientific and creative material reflecting the glorious and tragic events of 1939.
The organizers and curators of the project were: the Russian Academy of Arts, the Bureau of Creative Expeditions, Cultural and educational association «ORDEN», the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia, and the Embassy of Mongolia in the Russian Federation. This work has already been highly praised by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Mongolia GombojavynZandanshatar, the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova,as well as the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Russia and Mongolia, who included their forewords in this publication.
The presentation conducted by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, VasilyTsereteli, was attended by prominent scientists and artists, Russian and Mongolian diplomats, heads of public organizations, and media representatives.
