DISCUSSION CLUB
School Shooting: Legal, criminological, sociological and psychological problems
On 29 October 2021, the ordinary online meeting of the Discussion Club was held together with the Saratov Branch Office of the Union of Criminalists and Criminologists. The participants of the Discussion Club became bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate students.
The Discussion Club was moderated by Natalia Lopashenko, Professor at the Chair of Criminal and Criminal Enforcement Law of the Saratov State Law Academy (SSLA), and Roman Komyagin, Lecturer at the Chair of Criminal and Criminal Enforcement Law of the SSLA.
During the event, Anna Starzhinskaya, Investigative Committee of Russia employee, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice, and Valery Kozel, Senior Lecturer at the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, shared their professional experience.
Students presented their reports on such topics as ‘School shooter – Criminological classification of a personality type’ (Alexey Artamonov), ‘School shooting in Russia: What matters?’ (Tatiana Kirgizova), ‘ “The Columbine Community” activities as a reason for school-shootings’ (Alyona Smilina), ‘Criminal analysis of school shooting’ (Leonov Nikolay); ‘Issues of school shooting criminal law qualification’ (Yana Aftayeva, Maria Zhukova), ‘Security in Israeli educational institutions’ (Pavel Zlobin) etc.
After that, the participants expressed their opinions on similar topics within the framework of the Discussion Club
