On 2 August 1996, the last execution in modern Russia officially took place. Sergey Golovkin was executed. He was convicted of a series of murders – deaths of 11 boys between 1986 and 1992 had been officially proven. The murders were committed by him in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. He committed most of the crimes in the basement of his personal garage, where he subjected his victims to cruel torture and raped them before their death. After the murder, he dismembered the corpses. Golovkin worked first at the horse racing track and then as a zootechnician at the Moscow Stud Farm No. 1. Golovkin had a higher education. He graduated from the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. For his success in the development of horse breeding, he was awarded a silver medal of the VDNH of the USSR (interestingly, he also graduated from school with a silver medal that is given to students with a maximum of two good grades).
