The journals of the Vologda Institute of Law and Economics of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia are included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia for new expanded codes of scientific specialties

The Vologda Institute of Law and Economics of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia is the founder and publisher of scientific periodicals.

On 23 September 2022, the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications has been updated, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences, for the degree of doctor of sciences should be published.

The list of Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) includes two editions of the Vologda Institute of Law and Economics of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia:

  • 1609 scientific and practical journal “Penitentiary Science”;
  • 2151 online scientific and practical journal of private and public law “Ius Publicum et Privatum”.

Both journals are included in the list of new expanded codes of scientific specialties: 5.1.1 Theoretical and Historical Sciences, 5.1.4 Criminal Law Sciences, 5.1.2 Public Law (State Law) Sciences. In addition, the scientific and practical journal “Penitentiary Science” is included in the list for two more codes: 5.8.1 – General Pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education and 5.3.9 – Legal psychology and psychological security.

It should be reminded that changes have been made to the list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals: for example, the ciphers of scientific specialties have been enlarged. The updated nomenclature allows publishing articles with a broader thematic coverage.

– The inclusion of the Institute’s journals in the list of the HAC is a confirmation of the high scientific status of publications expressed by the academic community. Getting into the list is not so easy. The publication must meet all the expert commission’s criteria. Among them: the presence of peer reviewing, information openness of the publication, inclusion in the RSCI database, strict periodicity of publication, presence of at least three doctors of sciences in the editorial board and much more. The journals published in the Institute meet the specified criteria. The periodicals are also scientific platforms for discussing topical issues of science and practice, – said the editor-in-chief of the publications of the educational institution and the head of the Institute, Evgeny Kharkov.
