All-Russian student scientific conference “Modern Forensic Content”

On the Forensic Expert Day, 1 March 2023, the Irkutsk Branch office of the Union of Criminalists and Criminologists, with the support of the Chair of Criminology, Forensic Examinations and Legal Psychology at Baikal State University, the East Siberian Branch of the Russian State University of Justice and the Interuniversity Student Discussion Forensic Club “Sherlock Holmes of the XXI century”, held the All-Russian student scientific conference “Modern Forensic Content”.

The conference was attended by students from different cities of Russia, such as Saint Petersburg, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Ulan-Ude and Irkutsk. The venue of the event was Irkutsk Regional State Universal Scientific Library of Molchanov-Sibirskiy.

During the conference, reports were presented on the я issues of introducing innovations in forensic activities, improving traditional and non-traditional instruments and methods of crime detection and investigation, promising areas of integration of psychology and criminology, diffusion of digital technologies into criminalistic science and activities.

A non–standard format of the event was chosen for the conference – the participants had to submit reports accompanied by bright and creative presentations in a strictly limited time frame, in such a way as to interest the audience with the topic of the speech. The reports were evaluated by the audience in the hall with stormy applause (a noise meter was used to determine the level of reaction), as well as a competent jury headed by Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of the Irkutsk region, Head of the Irkutsk Branch office of the Union of Criminalists and Criminologists Diana Stepanenko and consisting of scientists from Irkutsk law schools and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

As the expert jury noted, the speakers successfully coped with the task assigned to them. They presented original reports on topical, debatable issues.

The reports of the following students were highlighted: Savely Frolov (Irkutsk, Eastern-Siberian branch of the Russian State University of Justice), Anastasia Panova (Voronezh, Central branch of the Russian State University of Justice), Svetlana Istomina (Irkutsk, Baikal State University), Anna Tsvetkova (Yekaterinburg, V.F. Yakovlev Ural State University), Ivan Serebrennikov (Irkutsk, Eastern-Siberian Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia), Dmitry Chipizubov (Irkutsk, Irkutsk Law Institute (branch) of the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation), Maria Atamanchuk (Irkutsk, Baikal State University).

The conference’s organizers express their gratitude to all participants, scientific supervisors, members of the expert jury and representatives of student scientific societies.
